Happiness Runs
Happiness Runs: An Interactive Novel by Stefan McNinch and ILL LUSORY Games
Examining the bodies of butchered twins, Jonathan Hildebrand sees only the relief of two boys who can finally stop running. He is almost jealous. From the moment his brother disappeared twenty years ago, his own chase has not relented.
The case leads Jonathan to an isolated commune in Alaska, where the residents have engineered a utopic society with no government, no currency, and no competition. The recipe for their ostensive bliss? One law. One penalty.
Posing among them, sampling their pleasures, Jonathan isn’t sure which he’s investigating: the murders, or the promises the island offers. His hosts are happy to reveal their secrets, once he proves his allegiance by staying through the winter.
As total white erases every exit, and merciless cold strangles all but the most primal thoughts, Jonathan’s life now depends on a town full of suspects. They’ll protect their veneer at any cost, even if it means gambling with their most valuable secret:
How much is the truth about Jonathan’s past worth to him?
The twins aren’t the first murder in the town’s closet. Before winter ends, they won’t be the last.
